Run Club FAQ

Who can join the run clubs?

Everyone is welcome! Our run clubs are open to runners and walkers of all levels and abilities, from complete beginners to experienced marathoners. No prior running experience is required.

Are the run clubs inclusive for individuals with disabilities?

Absolutely. Several of our clubs have regular participants who use wheelchairs, handcycles, or other adaptive devices. Our community values inclusion, and other members are always willing to support and encourage every participant.

If you need any assistance, accommodations, or support, feel free to contact your local club pacers once you arrive so we can best assist you.

Is there a cost to participate?

No — our regular weekly run club events are free and open to everyone. We do ask participants to sign a simple waiver for liability purposes.

For those interested in extra perks, we also offer an optional paid membership program called “Run Club +.” Run Club + members enjoy exclusive benefits such as:

  • Special perks and giveaways during weekly runs
  • Access to select members-only events and experiences
  • Special discounts on run club merchandise

Joining Run Club + is completely optional — the core run club experience remains free and open to all.

Do I need to register in advance?

No advance registration is required. Simply show up, sign the waiver and join the group.

What distance do most people run?

All clubs run a distance of about 3.5 miles. On special occasions longer routes may  be offered additionally.

What pace does the group run?

All paces are welcome. Groups typically divide into 3 pace groups:

  • Sexy pace: walkers and over 12 minutes per mile (7:27 min/km)
  • Party pace: 9-12 minutes/mil (5:35-7:27 min/km)
  • Fast pace: under 9 minutes/mile (5:35 min/km)

Groups have a staggered start time with Sexy pace starting first. This ensures all groups finish around the same time.

What should I bring?
  • Comfortable running shoes and attire

  • Adaptive gear if needed
  • Positive energy!

All clubs foster a friendly, inclusive, and community-oriented environment. Many people attend for fitness, socializing, networking, or simply to stay active. You’ll meet people of all ages and backgrounds.

Some clubs have experienced runners including our pacers but formal coaching is not provided during the run.

Can I bring my kids or pets?

Our clubs are family-friendly and allow strollers or leashed pets.

Do the clubs run year-round?

Yes! We run rain or shine, nearly all year long. We are proud to keep our run club nights consistent and reliable.

The only exceptions are:

  • Extreme hurricane conditions — we will cancel runs only if there is an active hurricane alert requiring immediate safety precautions (such as a hurricane direct threat).

  • Year-end break — we take a brief pause during the last two weeks of the year to allow our members and pacers time to enjoy the holidays and recharge for the new year.

Routine rain, heat, or typical weather fluctuations do not usually affect our runs.

Are there social activities or events?

Yes! Many clubs host social events, themed runs and occasional partner-sponsored activations (such as giveaways, refreshments, or guest appearances).

Who organizes the run clubs?

The majority of the South Florida Run Club network is organized in partnership with Baptist Health South Florida and Nike.

How can I stay informed about updates or events?

Follow each run club on social media (Instagram, Facebook) for updates, event announcements, route maps, and schedule changes. Most clubs have active social pages where members share photos, videos, and connect.

Is there parking available?

Most meeting locations have free or street parking nearby. Arrive a few minutes early to allow time for parking and check-in.

Is this a good place to meet other runners?

Absolutely! Many friendships, training partners, and even running teams have started at our clubs. The social aspect is a big part of the run club experience.
